Sigung John Lopez (President Emeritus) founded Survival Solutions Jeet Kune Do in 1992.
Survival Solutions Jeet Kune Do is an International non-political organization and designed to maintain the integrity that Sigung John Lopez first envisoned. It is one of the largest Jeet Kune Do organisations in the world and lists all certified SS Jeet Kune Do Instructors worldwide with a lineage that can be traced right back to Sijo Bruce Lee. This creates an authentic teaching line for all of Survival Solutions members.

Sigung Lopez focused Survival Solutions JKD on teaching only those things that he could prove worked on the streets, adding to the Art of Jeet Kune Do with techniques from many modern Mixed Martial Arts, such as Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Ju Jitsui, Silat, and Police and Military Close Quarters Combat among others, embracing Bruce Lee's Philosophy wholeheartedly making SS JKD a complete and totally effective Fighting System.

Survival Solutions is just that, survival solutions. SS JKD teaches not only Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do Kung Fu but also many of the traditional and modern fighting arts such as  Kali (Escrima): Filipino Fighting Art, Silat: Indonesian Fighting Art, OFT=Offensive Fighting Tactics and CQC, Close Quarters Combat.

Throughout the years, Sigung Lopez has taught and certified many wonderful and talented Instructors. In 2009, Sigung John Lopez retired from teaching Martial Arts.  His legacy lives on through his Instructors. Survival Solutions Jeet Kune Do is now under the leadership of President: Sifu Bob Choat, Senior. Vice President: Sifu Jason Velez and Vice President: Sifu Aaron St. Louis.

About Jeet Kune Do

Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is the name Bruce Lee gave to his combat system and philosophy. Originally, when Lee began researching various fighting styles, he gave his martial art his own name of Jun Fan Gung Fu. The core concepts of JKD are derived from Wing Chun Gung Fu. This includes such ideas as centerline control,  punching with a vertical fist, trapping, and forward pressure. Through his personal research and readings, Lee also incorporated ideas from Boxing and Fencing. Later during the development of Jeet Kune Do, he would expand to include the art for personal development, not just to become a better fighter.

To illustrate Lee's views, in a 1971 Black Belt Magazine article, Lee said "Let it be understood once and for all that I have NOT invented a new style, composite or modification. I have in no way set Jeet Kune Do within a distinct form governed by laws that distinguish it from 'this' style or 'that' method. On the contrary, I hope to free my comrades from bondage to styles, patterns and doctrines." Remember that Jeet Kune Do is merely a name used, a mirror in which to see "ourselves" Either you understand or you don't, and that is that. There is no mystery about my style. My movements are simple, direct and non-classical. The extraordinary part of it lies in its simplicity. Every movement in Jeet Kune-Do is being so of itself. There is nothing artificial about it. I always believe that the easy way is the right way. Jeet Kune-Do is simply the direct expression of one's feelings with the minimum of movements and energy. The closer to the true way of Kung Fu, the less wastage of expression there is.

Again let me remind you Jeet Kune Do is just a name used, a boat to get one across, and once across it is to be discarded and not to be carried on one's back."

                          Zen Do Ka

The Japanese word Zen  means "meditation" Do means path, Ka is the spirit on the path.

A Zendoka is a spirit  on the path of enlightenment. Many travel, some finish. The question is "does such destination exist, or is the path the destination?"

Zen Do Ka is Evolution.
